![]() Engaging with said shit is honestly the most fun part of the game, and it counts towards overall progression as well, which is nice. If you try to play it like a "regular" open world game where you go from A to B to C then you will get annoyed because the game spawns so much shit in your way. People will tell you their preference but imo it's more than worth trying each, some of them are downright hilarious. The companions are a really fun part of the game. They'll often mark side missions, companions on your map. Make sure to talk to random npcs as much as possible. Are they worth bringing with you? I know you can order them, but not played around much with it yet. I can hire people to come with me, but they mostly just fuck up my stealth so far. I also saw a Turkey(?) take out a cultist and a skunk. but I let a bear out of its cage, and it was pretty funny watching them react. It makes it feel like roaming around is worthwhile, and the interactivity of it being a small "puzzle" to get into rather than just items lying on the floor is more satisfying. I found a random stash early on that I had to find a way into, this kind of random loot placement is the kind of thing I like to find while out exploring. Exploration so far feels kinda rewarding. ![]() The environment does look a little dull so far, though. Hoping some of the later weapons/mods make it feel a bit punchier. Headshots with the silence pistol are nice and snappy, though. I was hoping it would be a bit more satisfying. gunplay feels serviceable, but nothing special. I've tried a shotgun, flamethrower (pile of crap, lol), a basic pistol and silencer, and that damn AR that everyone carries. That was very annoying for a while though. until I read a post on Reddit that said let do of the mouse and just use WASD, now it's a piece of cake. I have a feeling I need to get used to this? Just me the CIA dude, and it almost feels like talking to a 2000 era NPC, he's so bland. So far in this game, everyone including the "charismatic" big bad feel kind of sterile. I didn't ever play 4 beyond about 30 minutes on a friend's computer, and while FC3 had a LOT of problems with its characters. The couple of hours I've spent casually running around make this game feel much better in that regard, but we'll see. I wasn't interested in this game after reading impressions here (both negative and positive), but £5 was too tempting and after Cyberpunk's open world let me down I was kind of hankering for one with better exploration. Any advice for this specific point at all?Īlso, any tips for a first time player? Sometimes in games like this you find yourself a dozen hours in wishing you knew what you know now at the start, so any tips like that would be appreciated. I like the chase of gearing up/powering up in games like these, but if the systems aren't very satisfying I could skip them. What puts me off is the mention of unlocking things from the start (skills and weapons). ![]() I'm reading through the mod features, and things like enemies having greater variety of weapons, more dynamic weather, and some QoL additions make it sound pretty great. I wonder if the difficulty bump this offers is something others like me found more enjoyable. I like my FPS games to offer decent challenge, I always play on the highest difficulty unless that creates too much nonsense like bullet sponges or unfair bullshit. I noticed the most commonly mentioned one is the Resistance mod, and reading up it seems really robust (and has had an update as recently as last December). I've looked into mods, but they seem to be limited. ![]() Gave it a quick go already and exploration hooked me faster than I thought it would.
